Sawasheri Brothers has sold groceries in Vadagaon, Belagavi since 1972. What began as a modest storefront became a wholesale destination in 2018, added farm-fresh vegetables and dairy in 2023, and today supplies local families, retailers and over 50 hotels and restaurants.
Sawasheri Direct is how that shop takes orders online.
The Challenge
A kirana business does not run like a marketplace. Prices move with the market, stock changes through the day, and the same shop serves a household buying a week of staples and a restaurant buying in bulk.
Off-the-shelf storefronts assume a fixed catalogue and a single kind of buyer. That mismatch is the problem:
- The catalogue has to be edited by the shop, daily, without a developer
- Delivery is local and slot-based, not courier-dispatched
- Regular customers reorder the same basket constantly, so repeat ordering has to be near-instant
- The business already had an established name locally — the platform had to carry their brand, not a marketplace's
What We Built
Three pieces, deployed under Sawasheri Brothers' own branding.
Customer ordering app
A native app for iOS and Android, now live on both stores, covering browse, search, cart and checkout — with quick reorder for repeat baskets, real-time order tracking, and delivery slot selection, express or scheduled.
Admin dashboard
The part that decides whether a project like this survives contact with a real shop. Staff manage the catalogue, categories, pricing and availability themselves, review incoming orders, and manage delivery — without touching code or waiting on us.
Landing page
A public page for the business itself: what they sell, where they deliver, opening hours, and the route into the app.
Technology
Built on Techwara's Grocery Platform, our turnkey grocery product, rebranded and configured for a single vendor rather than rebuilt from scratch. The customer app is React Native for one codebase across both stores; the dashboard and landing page are Next.js.
This is the point of the platform: a shop this size cannot fund a ground-up build, and does not need one. It needs the same well-trodden ordering flow with its own name on it.
The platform also ships an admin app and a delivery app. Sawasheri Brothers did not take those in this phase — they run the shop from the dashboard — which is how a single-vendor deployment is supposed to work: take the pieces the business actually needs.
Current Status
- Customer app — available on the App Store and Play Store
- Admin dashboard — live, in use by the business
- Landing page — final stages before launch
We have not published performance figures for this project yet. The platform is still early in its rollout, and we would rather report numbers once they mean something.
